Stomach weight loss is a challenge for most people because your stomach is designed to store fat well. It is one area, too, that is not very receptive to toning. You could have fat arms and legs, but if you just start toning them, they will firm right up. Not so with the stomach. You must do cardio and lots of it. Toning alone will, indeed, give you great abs but no one will be able to see them without cardio because the fat will remain and hide your muscles.

Start with cardio and a good diet. Nothing else reduces your stomach weight, sadly. All over movement is the only thing that will rid you of it. Thankfully, cardio can mean hundreds of things. Swimming is a great recreational cardio exercise, as is running, biking, dancing, and even gardening. Whatever you do, make sure you are moving around a lot and breaking a sweat. Get your heart racing.

Just changing your life style can help you get in more movement if you do not have a half hour to devote to exercise every day. If you can walk somewhere in ten minutes, do not drive. Stand as much as you can instead of sitting, especially when you are watching television. Just walking around and rocking on your feet while you relax burns more calories than just sitting.

Whenever you do any of this movement, hold your stomach in as much as you can and feel your muscle clench. This will get you in the habit of doing that. It keeps your abs taut and shapes them slightly while you do not realize it. It is a small technique that can be done anywhere and should be done everywhere. It will also give you a more flattering shape by holding your stomach more in.

Crunches are a wonderful way to get yourself in shape. They are better than sit ups because there is less of a chance of doing them wrong and less strain on your back. You lay on your back on the floor with your arms behind your head. You put your legs up with the knees bent at a ninety degree angle. You then, sucking in your stomach, lift your shoulders off the floor and bring your knees in toward your chest, contracting your stomach.

These force you to suck in your stomach and contract your muscles from both sides. With sit ups, they can build a lot of muscle but that may not be what you want. You are looking for long, lean toning, not bulk. Bulk is very bad if you still have a layer of fat on your stomach because it will push your fat out and make you look bigger than you are.

Another big way to vamp up your exercises is to get a large rubber exercise ball. These balls are noted for being good for your back and for giving you challenging work outs in a comfortable way. For example, once you get used to crunches and your body does not respond quite as positively to them any more, you can do them on an exercise ball in order to target slightly different muscle groups.

You lie back on the ball with your legs straight out to hold you steady on the floor. You then will lift your shoulders back in the same way, only your knees will not come up to meet you. This angle will provide more toning for you.

Just keep jumping between weight and aerobics till your workout is done. You need to workout for not more than forty five minutes as this is a high power workout and works each major energy system of the body.
